Students will find some hand lettering experience helpful for this class, but not necessary.  A working knowledge of Procreate is also helpful.

Topics I will cover are:

    • Forming letters: different types of letter structure, the importance of consistency, and considerations for the future
    • Turning letters into words: different options for putting words together
    • Designing the layout of a phrase: putting all the words together in a good composition
    • Adding flourishes and details: different ways to embellish the words and fill in extra space
    • Making it chunky: how to add the extra body to the letters

I’ll be using Procreate for my lettering, but it’s not necessary for this class.  All you really need is a pencil and paper.

In addition to art prints, I’ve used this style of lettering for vinyl stickers and enamel pins.  It would also make great art for graphic tees or notebook covers.
