Minty Fresh: Consumer Product Advertising Image – Workshop #82

Minty Fresh: Consumer Product Advertising Image
This is a product photography tutorial for the Professional Interactive Education Program, Workshop #82
As CGI becomes more ubiquitous in consumer product advertising, you would be forgiven if you assumed this month’s workshop is a 3D render—after all, not only have we recently released a brand new CGI course, but that’s how the majority of these hyperreal images are created nowadays. But we wanted to demonstrate that you can still create this effect the old-school way, by shooting the core image in-camera and applying some ingenious post-production effects. As you’ll learn, it’s important to have a clear vision of the final result in mind to guide your approach, from capture to final composite.

In this advanced photography workshop, you will learn how to shoot a toothbrush closeup featuring a generous application of toothpaste gel. Then, we’ll take you through the complete post-production process to transform your SOOC shot into a hyperreal advertising-style image befitting the top consumer brands. Adding such visually compelling images to your portfolio and social media is a great way to grab attention.

As a professional photographer, you can reap significant benefits from participating in our workshops that you can immediately apply to your own commercial work. As a student of photography looking to expand your technical and creative skills, you’ll find our workshops are the perfect way to gain hands-on experience across the spectrum of product photography.

Your instructors for this workshop are Alex Koloskov and Artem Pissarevskiy They will explain:

    1. How to overcome both photography and post-production-related challenges when working with a consumer product close-up.
    1. What studio lights and modifiers to use and how to use them for dramatic effects in a small studio.
    1. What final steps need to be made for the best in-camera results.
  1. How to build a creative composition using editing software, such as Adobe Photoshop, to create the final image.
